Warning Shots p. 6

The attempted assassination of Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords has reignited the long debate over guns in America.

CRITICAL THINKING

  1. Why is such an amendment important in the nation's earliest years? Because new US had to defend itself against the British.
  2. How has the Supreme Court interpreted that language in recent decisions?
  3. Do you think there should be any restrictions on an individual's right to own and carry guns today? If so, what kind?

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. Gun-control advocates say that Arizona's gun laws are too permissive.
  2. What do you think?its alright il.l do the same but for my safety.
  3. Should people be able to carry concealed weapons into restaurants and bars?people should be able to carry weapons into bars but not resterants because bars are where people get drunk and slip up  but resterants arn't.
  4. On college campuses? Why or why not?no you shouldnt because you could get jumped and people who are childish would play with your gun and you'll get in trouble for having it,they could pull the trigger and it'll hit someone  and they could die.
  5. Why do you think more teens than adults support gun-control laws?teens are imature and use guns for childish reasons and they want a gun so that they can stunt with it.
  6. What, if anything, do you think could have prevented the Tucson shootings?i dont think  it would stop no shooting unless the cops were on side of them I bet they would have never thought of shooting.
  7. How do you think gun-control supporters and opponents would answer this questions?they would say people should have an gun so they would be protected.
  8. When describing her bill to ban large-volume gun magazines, Congresswomen Carolyn McCarthy, Democrat of New York, said, "This is not a gun-control bill. I like to use the word 'gun-safety bills.'"  What point do you think she was trying to make? Do you agree?she was trying to say that this ain't no place to control guns it's to get it away so you would be safe.

DEBATE

Take a stand: Should the U.S. ban the sale of gun magazines that contain more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

they should give it to people who are mature enough to handle it, people like in their tweenties because young children become violent like that, and thats what we people are debating about.

Does the U.S. need tighter gun-control restrictions? Why or why not?

Yes the U.S. needs tighter gun -control restrictions because peopple start a lot of violence behind guns and then they teach their children the same. people also have no control over their gun usage. The  U.S. have no control over the  people who own guns, people who own guns put inacent people in danger. They need to get them people together.
